Using Advertising Spots to Enhance Communication Skills in German and French Classes : Practical Examples and Pedagogy

Résumé

During the workshop, participants explored the practical examples and pedagogy of using advertising spots to enhance communication skills in German and French classes. The different types of advertising spots that can be used in language classes, such as TV commercials, print ads, online ads, billboards, and social media ads were discussed. Specific examples of advertising spots in German and French were used to demonstrate how they can be used to improve listening and speaking skills in a communicative and engaging way. The pedagogy behind using advertising spots in German and French classes was also examined, including the role of authentic materials, the use of multimodal resources, and the integration of task-based language teaching. Through hands-on activities and group discussions, participants had the opportunity to explore and apply these principles in their own language teaching practices.
